Account deletion is permanent. Once your deletion request is processed, your Account and all associated personal data will be permanently removed from our active systems. This action cannot be undone. Please read this page fully before proceeding.

01Two Ways to Delete Your Account

OakDev & AI AB is committed to making the exercise of your rights as easy as possible. You can delete your Vespera account in two ways — choose whichever is most convenient for you.

Option A
Delete in the App

The fastest way. No waiting, no emails — tap a button and your account is queued for immediate deletion.

02In-App Deletion — Full Walkthrough

Deleting your account directly through Vespera is the quickest method and requires no manual review on our end.

Step-by-Step

  • Open the Vespera app and ensure you are signed in to the account you wish to delete.
  • Tap the Settings icon or navigate to the Settings screen from the main navigation.
  • Scroll down past your profile details and notification preferences until you reach the Account section near the bottom of the Settings screen.
  • Tap Delete Account. A confirmation dialog will appear explaining what will be permanently removed.
  • Read the confirmation carefully. If you are certain, tap Confirm Delete. Deletion begins immediately — there is no further grace period after this tap.
  • You will be signed out of the app automatically and your session will be terminated.

What Happens Next

Upon confirming, our systems immediately queue your account for full removal. Your profile, Reflections balance, content history, and all associated personal data in our active databases will be permanently erased within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email once the process is complete.

Tip: Before deleting, cancel your Blessed subscription separately through your Platform Store (Apple App Store or Google Play) to ensure no further billing occurs. Account deletion does not automatically cancel your Platform Store subscription. See Section 6 for instructions.

03Delete by Email — Detailed Process

If you cannot access the app — for example if you have lost your device, forgotten your password, or your account is locked — you can request deletion by email. This process includes an identity verification step to protect you from unauthorised requests.

What to Include in Your Email

  • Your full name as registered on the account (if applicable).
  • The email address associated with your Vespera account.
  • A clear statement: "I request the permanent deletion of my Vespera account and all associated personal data under GDPR Article 17."
  • Any additional information that may help us locate your account (e.g. approximate registration date, device type).

Verification & Processing

For your security, we will send a verification email to the registered address on file. You must confirm the deletion request from that address. Once verified, we will confirm receipt and process your deletion within 30 days, in compliance with GDPR Article 12(3).

If you no longer have access to the email address associated with your account, please contact us with as much identifying information as possible and we will work with you to verify your identity through alternative means.

04What Gets Deleted

When your account deletion is processed, we permanently and irreversibly erase all of the following from our active systems:

BackupsData in active backups will be overwritten within our standard backup rotation cycle (maximum 90 days).

Your data is not anonymised — it is deleted. We do not retain a pseudonymous or anonymised version of your profile after deletion, with the limited exceptions described in Section 5.

05Data We Are Required to Retain

While we erase all personal data we are able to, certain limited records may be retained where we are under a legal obligation to do so. This is a narrow exception — not a general retention practice.

All retained records are stored with strict access controls and used solely for the legal purpose for which they are retained. They are never used for marketing, analytics, or any other purpose. Retained financial records contain only transaction metadata — they do not include your spiritual content history, preferences, or religious data.

06Your Blessed Subscription

Account deletion in Vespera and cancellation of your Blessed subscription are two separate actions. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a recurring subscription managed by the Platform Store.

Important: If you have an active Blessed subscription, cancel it through your Platform Store before or after deleting your Vespera account. Failure to do so may result in continued billing by Apple or Google even after your account is gone.

Cancel on iOS (Apple)

  • Go to Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions.
  • Find Vespera Blessed and tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancel on Android (Google Play)

  • Open the Google Play Store app.
  • Tap your profile icon, then go to Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Find Vespera and tap Cancel subscription.

OakDev & AI AB processes no payments and cannot cancel your Platform Store subscription on your behalf. All billing disputes must be directed to Apple or Google directly.

07Your Reflections Balance

Upon account deletion, your remaining Reflections balance — whether purchased or granted — will be permanently forfeited. Reflections are a digital access unit with no monetary value and are non-refundable upon account deletion, except where required by mandatory applicable consumer law.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund for recently purchased Reflections that have not been used, please refer to the Refunds & Cancellation section of our Terms of Service and contact your Platform Store (Apple or Google) directly.

Use your Reflections first: We recommend spending any remaining Reflections before deleting your account, as they cannot be recovered after deletion is confirmed.

08Deletion Timeline

We process deletion requests in compliance with GDPR Article 12(3), which requires erasure without undue delay and within one month of a valid request.

In exceptional circumstances (e.g. complex legal holds or verification difficulties), we may extend the response period by a further two months in accordance with GDPR Article 12(3). We will notify you of any extension within one month of receiving your request.

09Your GDPR Rights

Account deletion is the exercise of your Right to Erasure (the “right to be forgotten”) under GDPR Article 17. Beyond deletion, you hold a full suite of rights as a data subject under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Swedish Data Protection Act (2018:218).

Your Full Rights

  • Right of access (Art. 15): Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you before you delete.
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16): Request correction of inaccurate data without having to delete your account.
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17): This page — request permanent deletion of your data.
  • Right to restriction (Art. 18): Request that we pause processing of your data while a dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20): Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format before deletion.
  • Right to object (Art. 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)): Withdraw consent for special category (religious) data processing at any time without deleting your account.

10Changed Your Mind?

If you have submitted a deletion request and wish to cancel it, you must act quickly. Once data has been permanently erased, recovery is not possible under any circumstances.

In-App Deletion — Cancellation Window

While deletion begins immediately upon confirmation, there is a short administrative window (up to 48 hours) during which we may be able to halt the process if you contact us promptly. Email hello@oakdev.app immediately with the subject “Cancel Account Deletion” and the email address associated with your account. We cannot guarantee cancellation if data erasure is already underway.

Email Deletion — Cancellation

If you submitted a deletion request by email and have not yet confirmed the verification email, simply do not respond — the request will not proceed. If you have already confirmed, contact us immediately at hello@oakdev.app.

Once deleted, gone forever. We do not maintain soft-deleted or deactivated accounts. After the deletion window, your data cannot be recovered by us or anyone else. If you return to Vespera in the future, you will need to create a new account — your Reflections balance and history will not be restored.
